Prepare Your Workspace and Materials
First things first: clear a flat, clean area to work. A concrete floor or a large, sturdy table works best—you don't want your materials sliding around mid-installation. Lay out all your components: the aluminum profiles for Workbench E, the 90° Aluminum Profile Connectors (one for each corner joint), and any bolts or set screws that came with the connectors. Take a minute to inspect each part: check that the profiles are straight, the connectors aren't cracked or bent, and the screws are free of rust or damage. Even a tiny imperfection can cause problems later, so it's better to catch it now.
Next, wipe down the profiles and connectors with a clean cloth to remove dust, oil, or fingerprints. Aluminum is prone to smudging, and dirt can prevent the connector from seating properly. If you notice any burrs on the ends of the profiles (from cutting), gently sand them down with fine-grit sandpaper—sharp edges can scratch the connector or make alignment tricky.

Align the Aluminum Profiles
Workbench E's frame is typically made of four main vertical profiles (the legs) and four horizontal profiles (the top and bottom rails). For this guide, we'll focus on connecting a vertical leg to a horizontal rail using the 90° connector. Start by laying the vertical profile on its side and the horizontal profile perpendicular to it, forming a "T" shape (the vertical leg will be the stem of the "T," and the horizontal rail will be the top bar). The end of the horizontal rail should meet the side of the vertical rail at a 90° angle—this is where the connector will go.
Use your tape measure to mark where the connector will sit on both profiles. Most 90° connectors have a "neck" that fits into the T-slot of the aluminum profile, so align the connector's base with the edge of the horizontal rail and mark the position on the vertical profile. Double-check the angle with a square tool or by using the corner of a piece of paper—you want a perfect right angle here. If the angle is off even by a few degrees, the entire workbench will lean, and the deck won't sit flat.

insert the 90° Connector into the Profiles
Now, take the 90° Aluminum Profile Connector and slide one arm into the T-slot of the horizontal profile. The T-slot is the long, narrow groove running along the length of the aluminum profile—this is where all aluminum profile accessories, including connectors, attach. Push the connector in until it's flush with the end of the horizontal rail. You might need to wiggle it slightly to get it to seat properly—don't force it, as this could bend the connector or damage the slot.
Next, take the vertical profile and position it so that the marked line aligns with the other arm of the connector. Slide the vertical profile onto the connector's second arm, making sure the connector is fully inserted into both profiles. At this point, the two profiles should form a solid "L" shape, with the connector hidden inside the T-slots. Give them a gentle shake—they should feel snug, but not tight yet (we'll tighten the screws in the next step).

Tighten the Set Screws (The Key to a Sturdy Joint)
Here's where the magic happens: tightening the set screws. Most 90° Aluminum Profile Connectors have one or two set screws on each arm—these are small, threaded screws that, when tightened, press against the inside of the T-slot, locking the connector in place. Grab your hex key and insert it into the first set screw (it's usually recessed into the connector's surface). Turn it clockwise slowly, applying steady pressure. You'll feel resistance as the screw presses against the profile—stop when you feel the screw "bite" and the connector no longer moves. Don't overtighten! Stripping the screw or damaging the T-slot is a common mistake here. A good rule of thumb: tighten until the screw is snug, then give it a quarter-turn more for extra security.
Repeat this process for the second set screw (if your connector has one) and then for the set screws on the vertical profile arm. Once all screws are tightened, give the joint a firm tug—there should be no movement. If the profiles wiggle, check that the screws are tight enough, or that the connector is fully inserted into both slots. It's better to take an extra minute here to ensure a tight fit than to have to redo it later.

Check Alignment and Repeat for All Corners
With the first corner joint done, it's time to check the alignment. Stand the "L" shaped frame upright and place a level against the vertical profile—does the bubble sit in the center? If not, gently loosen the set screws, adjust the profile until it's vertical, and retighten. Then, check the horizontal profile with the level—again, the bubble should be centered. If it's off, repeat the adjustment process. Remember: a level frame is a stable frame, and stability is non-negotiable for Workbench E, which will be holding tools, materials, and possibly heavy equipment.
Once you're happy with the first joint, repeat steps 2–4 for the remaining three corners of Workbench E. Take your time—rushing through this part can lead to inconsistent joints, which make the entire frame wobbly. As you go, periodically stand back and look at the frame from different angles to ensure it's square. A quick trick: measure the diagonals of the frame. If the measurements are equal, the frame is square; if not, adjust the corners until they match.
With all four corners connected and the frame squared up, you're ready to add the finishing touches: the workbench deck and any accessories. Workbench E comes with a single deck, which is typically a plywood, MDF, or aluminum panel that sits on top of the horizontal rails. Place the deck on the frame and align it so that it's centered, with equal overhang on all sides (if desired). To secure it, you can use screws through the deck into the horizontal profiles, or use aluminum profile accessories like deck brackets for a cleaner look.
Once the deck is in place, you can add extras like tool hooks, shelves, or bin rails—all of which attach to the T-slots of the aluminum profiles using compatible accessories. Just remember: every accessory adds weight, so make sure the 90° connectors are tight and the frame is level before loading it up. A good test? Place a heavy object (like a toolbox) on the deck and walk around the workbench—if there's no creaking, wobbling, or shifting, you've done a great job!
